Gray patch ~ International Gospel Recording Artist
Nothing gets singer Gray Patch's blood pumping more than some good old time gospel music with a touch of reggae, thrown in for good measure.
Since he began recording gospel three years ago, Gray Patch is an un-apologetic advocate for new-wave Christian Artists who experiment with secular rhythmns. He counts Chevelle Franklyn and Prodigal Son (former secular acts who have become successful gospel artists) among his favourite performers. Like them, he wants to reach beyond a gospel base. "I'm not into the traditional way because you can't win the masses over that way. What's exciting about what I'm doing is the songs are a fusion of sounds...a little Dancehall, a little Hip-Hop.." Pep Inna Me Step, which Gray Patch co-produced with Andre Lopez, is one of the 9 songs on Victorious, his debut album released in May of this year 2016. There are two collaborations on the set : Breakloose [Remix] alongside FemiKing and So Grateful For Life featuring Shavon "CSavi " Mitchell. Lopez and Leighton Walker are two of the producers with whom Gray Patch worked on Victorious. Gray Patch grew up in Olympic Gardens community in Kingston that has produced numerous dancehall artists. In fact, Gray Patch started his career as a secular artist in 1992 with the soothing tones of Nat King Cole and Beres Hammond's easy-listening reggae his biggest influences. However, he gradually returned to his gospel roots and five years ago, was ordained as a minister of religion in the Apostolic denomination. He takes his faith and resilience in Isaiah 41: 10 which reads, "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness." |
